Orange County is one of the most underrated driving destinations in all of California. While most people think of LA when they imagine exotic cars, OC has something LA cannot offer: clean roads, ocean views, and enough open stretches to actually feel what these machines can do. After more than a decade of delivering Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens across Southern California, our family team has driven every road worth driving. Here are the best.
1. Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) — Dana Point to Malibu
There is no more iconic road to drive an exotic in California than PCH. Starting in Dana Point and heading north through Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and eventually into Malibu, this coastal stretch offers ocean views on one side and California lifestyle on the other. The road is not particularly technical, but it is scenic beyond belief and guaranteed to turn every head on the route.
Best time to drive: Early Sunday morning before 8am. The road is quiet, the light is golden, and you will have the PCH almost entirely to yourself. Avoid weekend afternoons when traffic through Laguna Beach can bring even a Lamborghini to a crawl.
Pro tip from Ali: Start in Dana Point at the harbor, grab a coffee, then cruise north. Stop at Crystal Cove for photos — the bluffs behind a Huracán or Ferrari F8 make for some of the best content you will ever post.
2. Ortega Highway (SR-74) — Lake Elsinore to San Juan Capistrano
If PCH is the scenic drive, Ortega Highway is the driving drive. This mountain road connecting San Juan Capistrano to Lake Elsinore is packed with sweeping curves, elevation changes, and stunning canyon views that let you experience what an exotic car was actually engineered for. The road climbs into the Santa Ana Mountains before descending into the Inland Valley.
Best time to drive: Weekday mornings. This road attracts motorcyclists and enthusiasts on weekends, so midweek is cleaner. Check for road conditions after rain — the road can have debris after winter storms.
Caution: This is an active mountain road with real curves. Respect the speed limits, especially in a high-powered exotic you may not be familiar with. Always start slower than you think you need to.
3. Newport Coast Drive
This is the prestige drive. Newport Coast Drive winds through some of the most expensive real estate in Orange County, offering panoramic Pacific Ocean views and beautifully maintained roads. It connects PCH to the Pelican Hill area and Crystal Cove, and it is the kind of road where a Rolls-Royce Ghost or Bentley Continental feels perfectly at home.
The road is also conveniently close to excellent dining — the Pelican Hill Resort, The Ranch, and Crystal Cove Shake Shack are all along or near the route. Park the exotic, grab lunch, and enjoy the view before heading back out.
4. Santiago Canyon Road
Less trafficked than Ortega, Santiago Canyon Road runs through the foothills of Orange County connecting Irvine to the canyon areas near Orange and Anaheim Hills. It is one of the few roads in OC where you genuinely feel like you have escaped the city while still being minutes from everything. Rolling hills, ranches, and almost no traffic on weekday mornings make this a hidden gem for exotic drivers.
5. Crown Valley Parkway to Laguna Niguel
Crown Valley is one of the best-maintained boulevards in South Orange County. Wide lanes, clean pavement, and beautifully landscaped medians make it a joy to cruise in any exotic. It connects the 5 freeway to the Laguna Niguel hillside communities, ending near the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel — a perfect stop for a photo with your rental.
Our Recommended OC Exotic Day Route
Start your day with a pickup from our Costa Mesa location. Head south on PCH through Laguna Beach to Dana Point for breakfast at The Fisherman’s Restaurant. Then loop back through Newport Coast Drive for photos at Crystal Cove. Take MacArthur through Newport to Fashion Island for a midday cruise through one of OC’s most scenic shopping districts. Finish with a sunset drive north on PCH back toward Newport Beach and Huntington Beach.
Total drive time: 3–4 hours of actual driving. Memories: forever.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a special license to drive a Lamborghini in California?
No. A standard valid California driver’s license (or out-of-state equivalent) is all you need. You must be 25+ to rent with us, with full coverage insurance. Exemptions may be available — contact our team.
What is the best exotic car for driving PCH?
For the ultimate open-air PCH experience, a convertible or spider model is unbeatable. The Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder, Ferrari F8 Spider, or McLaren 720S Spider with the roof down on a clear SoCal morning is genuinely one of the best experiences you can have.
